The role & team
Join us as a casual Registered Nurse in our nurse-led clinic at Mount Gambier Prison, reporting to our Clinical Lead Julie. While this is an ad hoc casual role, we usually have many shifts available and can often give a month's notice for shifts. You'll work within a supportive team of 10 Registered Nurses, our Medical Administration Officer and our part-time GP. Duties in the role include:
- Undertaking clinical assessments on prisoners which could include taking blood, checking blood pressure, temperature checks, dipstick tests, checking bowel sounds, urinalysis, and more.
- Issuing medication like insulin & methadone - Thursday is a particularly busy medication day onsite.
- Wound care & assisting with work injuries.
- Providing and receiving support from our onsite GP.
- Assisting with unexpected events, such as reported chest pain.
Remuneration
Registered Nurses are paid according to the Registered Nurse Award Level 2.4 clinical casual rates:
- Weekdays - $46.21
- Saturdays - $69.32
- Sundays - $80.87
What we're looking for
- A completed Bachelor of Nursing
- Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Registration Agency (AHPRA)
- Previous nursing experience as a Registered Nurse
- Professional Indemnity Insurance covering up to $10 million (or willing to obtain this before employment)
