About the role and team
Working as a Maritime Security Officer at our client's sites at Gladstone and Curtis Island, you will work in a team of 10 Security Officers, and you will report to and receive support from our 2 Security Supervisors. In this role, you will cover 3 posts in different areas of the facility, including Gladstone Office Concierge Duties, working in the Gladstone Marine Operations Terminal, and Maritime Security duties on Curtis Island.
We are seeking local professional staff who have exceptional customer service skills, the ability to communicate with people from all walks of life, and the capacity to closely follow instructions and standard operating procedures.
Duties include:
- Concierge duties - contact employees to advise them their visitors are on site, control access and egress to the building for pedestrians and vehicles, monitor CCTV, create staff photo ID badges, as well as general administrative duties.
- Maritime management - liaise with ships when they come into the island, ensuring all people on the vessel have correct documentation and approvals, and turning away unauthorised vessels.
- Security escorts - escort people without clearances around the marine terminal and other protected areas of the facility.
- Access control - ensure all staff have valid access passes before entry and create new staff access passes based on client approvals.
- Patrolling - patrol around the island by foot or in a vehicle, including around the fence lines and around the facilities.
- Uphold health and safety - ensure our client's staff have been breathalysed, are wearing protective clothing and footwear, and aren't taking items such as cigarettes, phones, and smart watches into certain areas of the facility.
What we're looking for
Essential criteria:
- You live locally in Gladstone.
- Certificate II in Security Operations
- Current Queensland Security Licence (monitoring, unarmed guard, and crowd control)
- Current first aid & CPR qualification (CPR Must have been renewed in the past 12 months)
- Current open driver's licence - you have the ability to drive manual vehicles.
Desirable criteria (you'll need to obtain before starting with us):
- Maritime security guard awareness training and identification card (MSIC)
- Certified drug and alcohol tester
